Selena Gomez: Unable to Have Kids, But Still Plans to Be a Mom!

1 Mins read

Selena Gomez has opened up about the long-term implications of her health issues, disclosing for the first time that she is unable to bear her “own children.” Vanity Fair’s latest cover story is a candid interview with the actress, who said that she had already accepted this hard fact.

“Unfortunately, I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” she said, opening up about her feelings. I had to grieve for a while about it.” For more than ten years, Selena has struggled with lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease. She required a kidney transplant in 2017 as a result of the illness, which caused a serious health crisis. Selena acknowledges that eventually, these health problems have stopped her from becoming pregnant, which was “necessarily the way [she] envisioned it.” She continued, “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone.”

Considering Alternative Paths to Motherhood

Selena has gradually learned to accept her situation despite her initial sadness. She has been looking for various ways to become a mother, like adoption or surrogacy. “It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms,” she said, looking back on her experience. Count me among those people. That path will look a little different, but I am thrilled about what it will entail.” Selena’s eagerness to explore different options and her openness about her past experiences show her resolve and optimistic view of the future.

Future Family Plans with Benny Blanco

The news that Selena wants to have a child is perhaps encouraging for her boyfriend, music producer Benny Blanco. He recently discussed his ideas about beginning a family. At a May visit on “The Howard Stern Show,” Benny disclosed that he considers having children with Selena “every day.” He continued, saying, “Checking the box is my next goal.” Since they started dating in the summer of last year, the couple appears to have similar views on family planning. It would not be shocking if they were already building the foundation for their future together given their close relationship and common goals.
