In recent TikTok videos, Chappell Roan, the singer of “Good Luck, Babe!” (real name: Kayleigh Rose Amstutz), has brought attention to problematic fan behavior. On August 19, Roan expressed her displeasure with how some fans behave celebrities and voiced her concerns about behavior that she believes to be “not normal.”
“I do not care that people who are famous are routinely subjected to abuse, harassment, stalking, or anything else of that sort,” Chappell Roan declared. “I do not care that the career path I have chosen involves this insane kind of behavior in the workplace.” The 26-year-old Roan stressed that she does not find such behavior desirable or acceptable just because it is frequent.
Celebrity Entitlement and Personal Boundaries
Chappell Roan went on to discuss the subject of fan entitlement in more detail, focusing on interactions with celebrities. “Whenever you see a celebrity, I do not want whatever the f–k you think you should be entitled to,” she exclaimed. She expressed quite clearly that she does not like being required to give up time, pictures, or physical contact. Chappell Roan went on, “I do not give an f–k if you think it is selfish of me to say no to a hug, a picture, or your time.” She brought up the strange assumption made by fans that just because they follow her online and interact with her music, they know her.
In her videos, Chappell Roan attempted to explain her viewpoint to viewers while sporting a black t-shirt and pulled-back hair, which was a stark contrast to her colorful on-stage presence. She questioned, “Would you yell at a random woman on the street from the car window?” “Would you confront her in the open?” She compared the circumstance—which she deemed unreasonable—to a random woman declining to pose in a picture and then getting a reaction.
Personal Life Intrusions and Previous Concerns
Chappell Roan also brought attention to the fact that certain admirers go too far by prying into her private life. Would you snoop around her folks? Would you go everywhere with her? She asked, “Would you try to analyze her life and bully her online?” Roan emphasized that these kinds of intrusive acts are meant for someone they do not really know.
Chappell Roan has previously expressed worries about fan interactions in addition to this display of dissatisfaction. The singer of “HOT TO GO!” has already called out conceited behavior among VIP attendees of the Outside Lands Music Festival. Roan revealed how some fans have even gone so far as to track her family and personal life in an episode of The Comment Section with Drew Afualo that aired on July 18. Roan likened the invasive fan behavior to an uncontrollably growing forest fire. People begin to act strangely. They know where my sister works, where my parents live, and they follow me,” she said. Chappell Roan stated that she has limited her public appearance as a result of this persistent problem.
