Amy Slaton, a reality TV star best known for her stint on TLC’s “1,000-Lb. Sisters,” was taken into custody in a Tennessee zoo on suspicion of narcotics use and endangering the welfare of a minor. The Tennessee Safari Park near Alamo received allegations of a visitor being bitten by a camel on Monday, September 2, and the Crockett County Sheriff’s Department responded. In a statement posted on Facebook by the department, it was stated that deputies arrived at the site and detected a strong, suspicious-smelling car.
Charges Against Amy Slaton and Brian Scott Lovvorn
Alongside Brian Scott Lovvorn, Amy Slaton has been a pivotal character on “1,000-Lb. Sisters” since the show’s January 2020 launch. Charges against each of them include two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, as well as illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule IV narcotics. The same allegations apply to Lovvorn, who was riding in the same car as Amy Slaton. Both were brought into jail and lodged in the Crockett County Jail after their arrest.
No information was released by the Sheriff’s Department on the identity of the person bitten by the camel or the type of injuries that might have been sustained. They also highlighted that “the charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence,” adding, “The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.”
