Florida Couple Sues OPD Over False Child Porn SWAT Raid

1 Mins read

Christian and Laurie Ann Campbell of Florida are suing the Orlando Police Department (OPD), stating that their home was the target of a SWAT raid that was carried out based on untrue accusations. The couple claims in the lawsuit that was obtained that the August 2020 raid was carried out on the false suspicion that they were engaged in child molestation and possession of child pornography.

Video Footage Shows Police Response and Detainment

captured the raid on camera, exposing a massive police operation that many would have thought was over the top. Christian Campbell is shown in the video sitting in a chair in the front yard while wearing handcuffs. He is puzzled and finds it difficult to process what is happening to him. The plaintiff argues in the case that he was unintentionally singled out by the OPD officers, who carried out an extensive search on the pretext of “nonexistent child pornography.”

During the operation, Laurie Ann Campbell was also taken into custody. The pair alleges that she was stopped by the police while en route to the veterinarian for their dog’s urgent care. Sadly, the dog passed away soon after the incident, which made the Campbells’ anguish even worse.

Allegations of Child’s Neglect and Defamation

In addition, the lawsuit claims that the police raid happened early in the morning before the Campbells could change their 18-month-old child out of an overnight diaper that was filthy. During the incident, the baby was allegedly kept in a dirty diaper for hours on end, to the point that the kid’s clothes were covered in pee.

The couple’s complaints are further compounded by their allegation that OPD officers deceitfully told their neighbors that they were child molesters, a fact they say severely embarrassed them in public. The Campbells are currently suing the Orlando Police Department for $10 million in damages, with legal representation from Ariel Mitchell-Kidd.

Attempts have been made to contact the OPD to comment on the lawsuit, but the police department has not yet responded.
