Good news for Billy Ray Cyrus achy breaky bank account. The country singer’s estranged wife, Firerose, can no longer use his credit cards, a Tennessee judge has ruled.
In June, Cyrus, 62, requested an emergency restraining order to prevent his ex from utilizing his credit cards. He accused her of charging $96,986.05 between May 23 and June 7. A Williamson County judge has since granted Cyrus’ emergency motion to freeze Firerose from using his credit cards, according to documents obtained by People.
The judge determined that there was “no legitimate reason for [Firerose] to have access to and to make any additional charges.” The order, issued on July 10, also mandated that the “Old Town Road” singer and Firerose, 37, must “exchange income and expense statements as well as asset and liability statements” by July 11. Additionally, the judge instructed the pair to engage in “good faith mediation” by August 31.
Unauthorized Charges and Legal Disputes
In Cyrus’ filing last month, he claimed that Firerose made 37 unauthorized charges, totaling a significant amount. She allegedly used his business American Express card, which he argued she was never approved to handle. Billy Ray requested that Firerose be ordered to pay him back every cent.
Firerose, in her court filing obtained by TMZ, argued that she had access to several of Cyrus’ cards since they moved in together in 2022 and that she never had to abide by any limit. She maintained that she should be able to use their marital money while they are still legally wed to support her lifestyle. Her filing also claimed that $45,000 of the funds Cyrus wants back was mistakenly charged by the law firm representing her and has already been refunded.
Divorce and Legal Proceedings
In late May, Cyrus filed for divorce from Firerose, citing irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. He also sought an annulment, alleging fraud, after marrying in October 2023, less than a year after their engagement.
This marks Cyrus’ third divorce. He was married to Tish Cyrus from 1993 to 2022, with whom he shares five children: Miley, Noah, Trace, Braison, and Brandi. Before Tish, Billy Ray was married to Cindy Cyrus for five years until 1991. He also shares a son, Christopher Cody, 32, with ex Kristen Luckey.
The judge’s ruling to restrict Firerose’s access to Cyrus’ credit cards brings a significant change to their ongoing legal battles. The court’s decision to mandate the exchange of financial statements and to engage in mediation reflects the complex financial and personal issues at play in their separation. The outcome of these proceedings will likely have substantial implications for both Cyrus and Firerose as they navigate their divorce and financial disputes.
