1 Mins read

Google and YouTube announced a new policy that prohibits climate-change deniers who publish their content on their platforms from obtaining payments from advertisements or from content creators.

According to a statement from the platforms, advertisers, publishers at Google, and content makers on YouTube will be barred from monetizing content that goes against “the established scientific consensus about the existence and causes of climate change.”

This includes “content that refers to climate change as a hoax or fraud, claims that deny evidence showing that the global climate is warming, and claims that emissions of greenhouse gases or human activity contribute to climate change.”
