Prince Andrew refuses to leave his lavish mansion amid his ongoing eviction war with his brother Charles, the British King.
People allege that Prince Andrew is fighting moves to relocate him from his opulent Royal Lodge to the more reasonably priced Frogmore Cottage. The 64-year-old prince signed a 75-year lease the year before he moved into the $38 million Royal Lodge on the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Authorities discovered in 2019 that Andrew was connected to the late, rich pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. So this put his place at the Royal Lodge at risk. His already severely tarnished reputation worsened when documents leaked in January 2024 identified him in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
King Charles’ Dilemma
Despite these controversies, King Charles, 75, finds it challenging to evict his younger brother from the property. Royal expert Christopher Andersen, author of “The King,” told Fox News, “Andrew isn’t going anywhere for the time being. It’s doubtful that King Charles, along with his daughter-in-law Kate Middleton, who’s battling cancer, is in the mood for a knockdown drag-out with his brother.”
Andersen added, “If and when Andrew does move, it will simply be because he doesn’t have the money to heat Royal Lodge or keep the lights on.”
Frogmore Cottage, the proposed alternative residence for Prince Andrew, remains empty. Since June 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have not lived in the residence. The annual Sovereign Grant report disclosed this information last week.
Andrew’s Refusal to Downsize Amid Eviction War with Charles
Reportedly, the Duke of York declined the invitation to relocate to Frogmore Cottage, which is far smaller than his existing home.
Andersen commented, “In the meantime, Frogmore will likely remain empty.”
He also noted, “It’s worth noting that the King had better luck evicting Andrew from Buckingham Palace, where the Duke of York has maintained his private apartment for decades.”
Financial Considerations
The royal family offered Prince Andrew Frogmore Cottage as an alternative residence. This was suggested due to his apparent lack of income. However, he declined the offer, preferring to remain in his more spacious current home.
Frogmore Cottage was a 2018 wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth II to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex before it was opened to Andrew. The future of the property is now unknown while the royal family works out continuing disputes and living arrangements.
