The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards has been officially rescheduled to January 15, 2024, coinciding with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This decision comes after a joint announcement by Fox, the host network for this year’s ceremony, and the TV Academy on Thursday, August 10. The event will be broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at LA Live from 8 PM to 11 PM EST, extending Fox’s usual two-hour primetime schedule. The awards show will be produced by Jesse Collins Entertainment, with Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon, and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay as executive producers.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards are set to take place at the Peacock Theater on Saturday, January 6, and Sunday, January 7, 2024. An edited TV special covering the Creative Arts Emmys will air on FXX on January 13, 2024, at 8 PM. Originally scheduled for September 18, the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards were delayed due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes led by WGA and SAG-AFTRA. After considering various alternatives, January emerged as the preferred option for the ceremony.
While a host for the event is expected to be announced after the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA strike, the new Emmy dates will position the awards in the midst of a busy awards season. The Creative Emmy’s second night coincides with the 2024 Golden Globes, and both the Creative Emmy telecast and the Primetime Emmys will bracket the 2024 Critics Choice Awards scheduled for January 14.Though technically under a different SAG-AFTRA agreement, the strike’s impact on nominee attendance and the lack of WGA writers prompted the decision to postpone the 2023 ceremony. Fox and the TV Academy emphasized that the Emmys will honor all professionals in television, including those currently on strike, recognizing their contributions that have entertained and connected audiences worldwide over the past year.
