Beyoncé sends flowers to Madonna following the release of their “Break My Soul” remix

1 Mins read

Beyoncé’s smash hit “Break My Soul” got a new sound in August 2022. Appropriately called “The Queens Remix,” this iteration mixes the original track with musical elements from Madonna’s 1990 classic “Vogue.”

After The Queens Remix dropped, Beyoncé sent Madonna an exquisite bouquet of flowers along with a thank-you note honoring the legend. Queen Bey expressed her gratitude for the icon’s work, calling her a “masterpiece genius” who has “opened doors for many women.” The note thanked Madonna for naming the remixing and allowing Beyoncé to “sing in her song.”

Madonna responded on Instagram by sharing a picture of the stunning white flora on her story, aptly captioned “from one queen to another.”

Beyoncé originally released her hit single “Break My Soul” on June 20, 2022. The lead single in her seventh album, Renaissance, the house track was an instant sensation. Dubbed the anthem of the Great Resignation, “Break My Soul” was an immediate hit, thanks to its powerful lyrics and dance-pop elements straight out of popular 90s tracks. Now, the song further incorporates these elements with a remix featuring samples from one of the most famous titles of this era.

The Queens Remix features Beyoncé reading the name of black female artists the same way the Queen of Pop ticked off the names of celebs in the unmistakable “Vogue.” Those mentioned include Michelle Williams, Alicia Keys, Grace Jones (featured on the Renaissance album), Lauryn Hill, Roberta Flack, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Aaliyah, Whitney Houston, and Beyoncé’s sister, Solange Knowles.

The Renaissance album is a tribute to black artists and their contributions to multiple genres. It also pays homage to the marks made by LGBQT+ performers in house/club music and even Latin and ballroom music styles.

“Break My Soul” was lauded as a triumphant comeback for Beyoncé. As the flagship song from the superstar’s first solo album in six years, it was deemed a classic upon its launch. It also happens to be the first song on a particular former POTUS’ Summer 2022 playlist.

It is safe to say that Queen Bey has returned and in style!
