Feb 2022, Chennai: Hubert Enviro Care Systems P Ltd (HECS) a Chennai based Water Treatment firm filed a Damages Suit against Daiki Axis Japan and its Indian unit Daiki Axis India P Ltd at Madras High Court through their counsel headed by Advocate Saravanan Annadurai. This suit was initiated due to continuous supply of sub-standard ‘Johkasou’ (a Japanese technology) Sewage Treatment Plant.
Daiki Axis (Japan) initiated supply of claimed ‘Highest Quality Johkasou’ STPs through HECS to the Indian Markets since 2017. HECS further claimed that Initially Daiki Axis Japan had imported products into India, subsequently they started supplying inferior quality products to the Indian market through their Indian Subsidiary. They further claimed that these products had continuous issues of breakage / leakage apart from failure to meet promised performance standards.
The statement further stated that ‘When HECS highlighted the same to Daiki Axis Japanese Management, the company gave various promises that the quality will be improved however they failed in the same. Thus their institutional plan to supply only second quality products to the Indian market was evident. This resulted in damage to the reputation to HECS’
Dr. J.R Moses (Managing Director of HECS Group) further stated ‘Japanese companies are generally trusted in India for their quality and reliability. It is shocking when Daiki Axis, a Japanese firm found it fit to supply inferior quality products to the Indian market. These products would have never been supplied to their domestic markets in Japan’
He further added ‘Japanese officials were very casual and replied to with only apologies and false promises. HECS has approached the Hon Madras High court to claim damages from Daiki Axis Japan with the hope that this would also deter them from further dumping substandard products into the Indian market and damaging our environment’
The damages suit has been admitted by the Hon Madras High Court for further proceedings.
