Producer Anas Dabsawi talks about his love for Akon and working with the rapper for his latest movie production.
Anas Dabsawi shared that he’s been a fan of the singer Akon since a young age and is enthusiastic about working with him. “I have all his original albums, both CD and vinyl options, and listen to them all the time. They give me a thrill and an adrenaline rush that I cannot explain in words,” said Anas. He has always wanted to work with Akon at some point in his life, and the opportunity presented itself recently. As a famous producer and businessman in the Saudi film industry, Anas has made enough connections throughout his life. Now, he can afford to branch out to Hollywood to scout the talent there. One of his recent ventures was to convince Akon to become the lead actor in an Arabic music film produced by Anas.
The movie’s name is “Musical” and it is set to star a strong group of popular Arabic actors that includes Nasser Al-Qasabi, the Saudi comedian who is popular for his satirical take on current issues in the Arab world. The movie is going to be an Arab music film filled with songs. It is believed that Akon will sing most of his songs in the movie. Notably, this isn’t the first time that Akon is working with collaborators from the Arab world. He has previously been part of a music video, Welcome to the Life, performed by the Egyptian singer, composer, and artist Tamer Hosny. The song featured a prominent rap segment by Akon.
A large group of Arab composers, artists, and actors are expected to join Anas Dabsawi’s production, especially from Egypt. They will join Akon for work on the movie. The final list of actors and artists taking part in the movie is expected to be revealed in the next few weeks.
