Interview with Aaron Reflex The John Jay College Graduate with Ambition and Drive

Welcome Aaron Reflex thank you for agreeing to speak with us today! Please introduce yourself

Good Morning, I am a music recording artist. My name is Aaron Reflex. My music is available on all platforms. I was born Mustafah Aaron Steele ,March 18th 1995 in the Bronx, New York. I lived there until five, then I moved to Queens, New York. I attended Queensborough College in Bayside, Queens, obtained my associates degree then transferred to John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Manhattan, New York & obtained by Bachelors degree in political science and minored in music. I had a 3.8 grade point average. GPA is just a number, but that wasn’t easy to do with Balancing life and music. I run a website called AaronReflex.Com.

What skills have you learned that will help you in your singing career?

I have learned how to sing, rap, play a few instruments including piano, guitar, & drums. I have learned how to edit music videos and engineer music. I have learned a lot of things throughout the years with practicing and being hungry for knowledge. Google has been a great friend (lol).  Everything I learned over the years had come together beautifully and I’m thankful I invested the time I did into myself practicing my craft.

What made you decide to pursue a career in music entertainment?

I always liked music and when I started posting videos to vibe and Facebook people liked it. I started being less shy and decided I enjoy making music. I always loved music but I never dreamed it would be my career and here I am. I used to be stressed out in college, obsessing over maintaining my GPA. Music business can be stressful too but I enjoy it. You gotta do the things that make you happy. I love I went to college but you don’t need a a degree to make money. I’m more thankful for the experiences and people I networked with in college then then classes.

What kind of singer would you classify yourself as?

I would say diverse. Although I specialize in HipHop, R&B, Soul type of music I use to listen to a lot of rock & pop music. I like all music and if inspired I will make any type of song. Music is emotion. Music is poetry. You gotta do what you feel because other people will gravitate towards genuine good music.

What’s Your Songwriting Process?

I use to always write music during breaks at work or school. I have notebooks upon notebooks of old music from writing so much in school. I still write now but I like to freestyle in the recording booth. I can freestyle already decently, & it lets me get out how I feel right there. When I get in my recording music zone I amaze myself sometimes. It’s not easy to freestyle. I wanna go on the radio one day freestyle and have them say out words to show what I can do. I can’t wait for that day. 

Speaking of radio, your songs from your EP pain Melodies have been streaming a lot on College Radio, and you have recently been on some radio stations how do you feel about that success?

I feel blessed. I remember when I first started and no one would check my music out. To have it played now in rotation on college stations & be in local radio stations is amazing to me. I’m very thankful.

I recently release a song called 

718 it’s doing good right now.
