Representation and support for representation are extremely few and far between in the world of business. Identities and sexual orientations that are different from the typical are especially rare and are talked about arguably the least out of the majority of underrepresented groups of people in the business industries including minorities. In fact, particularly in the real estate industry, only four percent of home sellers, buyers, and realtors encompass the entirety of those who identify as lesbian, bisexual, or gay. Knowing this, it is plain to imagine that it may be quite hard for anyone who may stand out for being themselves. Fortunately, there are realtors like Mike Delgado and Eli Vizcarra who make it their mission to begin to change that.
Mike and Eli are a bustling pair of real estate specialists out of the state of California who strive to make the LGBT community feel proud and supported by creating a brand around their unique place in society. They wish to represent their culture for all to see and be seen as unapologetically themselves in order to lead a movement that introduces style, passion, and freedom into the real estate industry.
In the words of Mike and Eli, they also recognize that going against the status quo means “going up against all types of conflicts, including haters, and lack of income.” It is an uphill battle to attempt to do fight against something for an ideal where there is a genuine lack of support and dialogue, essentially committing the bold and daring act of going up against an army as just one man which would incite fear in anyone but Eli urges to “Do not be subject to negative thoughts or people that tell you that you CANNOT deserve to reap the benefits of your hard work. Surround yourselves with people of value to you and those with the culture and passion to excel just like you.”
Mike and Eli proudly advocate that fear to be yourself and different will only ever hold a person back. The pair act as a shining example to their community that it is possible to succeed in whatever venture you choose while not having to kneel to the majority and what is considered “normal”. Leaders of underrepresented groups like Mike and Eli inspire those who doubt themselves and feel the pressure of society to be someone they just aren’t comfortable with. It is just as Eli and Mike exclaims,
“WE ARE NOT AFRAID TO BE ELI & MIKE!”
