Max Verstappen won the US Grand Prix at Red Bull, extending his Formula One world championship lead to 12 points after withstanding the attack of title rival Lewis Hamilton.
This is Verstappen’s eighth win this season, but he struggled to achieve it, as the driver from the front lost the lead in the first corner and then resorted to an attacking strategy to recover it.
The 24-year-old ended Mercedes’ dominance in testing in Texas, but lost his lead to Hamilton at the start of the race and reached the first corner before Verstappen tried to block the road to the Briton.
