Bernie Sanders DESTROYS Elon Musk Over Social Security Hypocrisy

1 Mins read

The richest man in the world and America’s unelected President went on The Joe Rogan Show and declared Social Security a “Ponzi scheme.” Elon Musk believes that Social Security is a pyramid scheme, a total fraud, where returns are not generated by investments but by new participants contributing money.

According to Musk, Social Security is in a fiscal bind due to the shrinking working-class population and a rise in retirees living longer lives. Musk’s comments are very much in line with the GOP’s opinion on reducing and eventually eliminating Social Security.

Republicans Long-Lasting Battle With The Social Security

Until 1935, Social Security was widely supported and considered necessary, but that changed during the Cold War. Republicans started viewing it as “Socialist” and a form of government intervention in citizens’ everyday lives. The fear of the “socialist boggyman” was amplified by Republican politicians, who used this opportunity to appeal to conservative voters.

Project 2025, which has become a guideline for the Trump administration, proposed reducing government intervention and privatization of social programs. They also propose various cuts from Medicare and Medicaid. Other proposals, though not directly, aim to reshape fiscal policies that will affect the social security net that supports millions of Americans.

Bernie Sanders Calls Out Elon Musk’s Hypocrisy on Social Security

The left-wing Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders, in an interview with NBC, called out Elon Musk on his hypocrisy. He pointed out that Elon Musk, with a $400 billion net worth, contributes to Social Security the same amount as someone making $170 million.

He also stated that if billionaires like Musk were taxed fairly, the U.S. government could extend Social Security solvency by 75 years. According to Bernie Sanders, Social Security has worked perfectly well for the last 80 years.

And statistics prove his point. Social Security prevents more than 40% of retirees from falling below the poverty line. Various social programs serve as the primary source of income for more than 52% of senior citizens. Various studies have also shown that Social Security benefits contribute to lower mortality rates among the elderly, helping prevent untimely deaths.
