As we enter yet another week of the government shutdown, President Donald Trump’s administration is working overtime to try to blame the Democratic Party for the shutdown and the upcoming lapse in SNAP benefits.
This blame game hasn’t worked yet. Despite all the Republican Party’s talk, most Americans believe the GOP is responsible for the government shutdown and subsequent SNAP issues. Even worse for the Trump administration is the new poll that recently came out showing Trump’s approval rating has hit a record low at 37%.
Amid all of this uproar, the Trump administration has chosen not to try to work together with Congress to reopen the government. Instead, the White House is returning to its favorite pastime: blaming transgender Americans for everything.

Trump Administration Blames Trans Americans for SNAP Issues
As Americans have expressed their frustration over the lapse in SNAP benefits, the Trump administration has blamed the Democratic Party for this issue, stating that Democrats don’t want to fund SNAP and instead want to fund “healthcare for illegal aliens and gender mutilation procedures.”
This accusation appeared on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) website recently, which may in fact violate the Hatch Act. Of course, the corrupt Trump administration doesn’t care about that.
In reality, Democrats have refused to fully back a Republican bill, as they’re fighting for the extension of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies. Republicans have refused to negotiate on this matter.
Blaming trans Americans isn’t new. Trump and his closest friends have long attacked the trans community. Whether this latest accusation works remains to be seen.

Does the GOP Want the Government to Stay Shut Down?
After a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to fund SNAP during the shutdown, the White House stated that it would partially do so. Now, some SNAP benefits will be funded.
The government shutdown doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon. Trump has claimed that he “won’t be extorted” by the Democrats, and many Republicans have been almost gleeful about the shutdown. Now, this current shutdown may become the longest in history.
Trump doesn’t seem to care and isn’t even avoiding certain activities like most presidents do during a government shutdown. For example, previous presidents would avoid traveling during these times. Trump has traveled and flown like nothing is amiss.
SNAP benefits may soon run out again, the FAA is having major issues right around holiday travel, and federal workers, now being furloughed and not being paid, are facing immense debt and difficulties. One would think the president would be working overtime to help out Americans and reopen the government.
That isn’t the case, which begs the question: Do Trump and the GOP want this government shutdown to continue?
