President Donald Trump has increasingly faced pressure about the ongoing Gaza war from liberal Americans — and now, even his far-right MAGA base. While mainstream Republicans overwhelmingly continue to support Israel’s war in Gaza after Hamas’s October 7th attack, many far-right GOP members are publicly criticizing the war and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
This remarkable change in the far-right movement comes as the Israel-Gaza war nears its two-year anniversary. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear as if there’s any end in sight. Every potential ceasefire that is touted quickly goes nowhere.
Now, much of the world is watching as Gazans face a horrific famine. It’s hard for people to see children starve to death on social media platforms. But will the right’s decision to speak up about how the war should end sway Trump, who supports Netanyahu and Israel in just about everything?
The Right Wants the Gaza War to End
Who would’ve thought that the left and the right would come together, and all because of the tragic Gaza war? As Palestinians in Gaza face malnutrition and starvation, many left and right Americans alike have become disgusted by the U.S. government’s continued support of Israel.
After all, Israel is the one that is denying aid and food to go into Gaza. How could America continue to support a government that is very clearly choosing to starve and kill innocent people and children?
Progressive Democrats have been vocally against the war and Netanyahu from just about the very beginning of the war. Now, even Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is siding with liberals and calling what’s happening in Gaza a “genocide, humanitarian crisis, and starvation.”
Meanwhile, conservative personality Tucker Carlson is calling for Americans who are Israeli soldiers to have their citizenship stripped. Carlson and Senator Ted Cruz even had a viral spat over the war, with Cruz standing firm in his support of Israel.
As the outrage continues to grow, will the far-right members of MAGA — those who got Trump elected — be able to sway the president’s policy on the Gaza war?
Will Trump Side with MAGA or Netanyahu?
Already, Trump has shown that he’s willing to publicly disagree with Netanyahu. The U.S. president even went against Netanyahu when he stated that there was a very clear starvation going on in Gaza. Netanyahu, meanwhile, has denied that this is happening.
If Trump doesn’t get the Gaza war under hand — and get that ceasefire he keeps talking about — then he risks his far right MAGA base splintering off from him even further. After all, many right Trump supporters have grown aghast, and even disillusioned, with how Trump is handling the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Now, Trump faces two huge crises that put him at odds with his most vocal supporters. His next moves could make or break the whole MAGA movement.
