Donald Trump’s Obsession with Communism Has Gone Too Far

1 Mins read

Donald Trump is no stranger to using the threat of communism to justify his baffling actions. But his obsession with communism has gone too far. He is now creating a narrative that everyone who disagrees with him is a communist, even if they are just following the laws of the greatest democracy in the world.

If You Disagree with Trump, You’re a Communist

Trump often uses the “communist” label for his political opponents and those who disagree with him. He previously used it against his Democratic opponent Kamala Harris during the 2024 elections and is now trying to do the same with the judges who don’t condone his unlawful actions.

During a speech to commemorate his 100th day in the office, Trump tapped into his obsession with communism once again. He said that a “handful of communist radical left judges” are obstructing the enforcement of “our laws”. He accused them of trying to “usurp the duties that belong solely to the president of the United States.”

Trump Himself is Acting Like a Communist Dictator

For all of his hate towards communism, Trump is the one who is acting like a communist leader. He thinks he has the power to bend the legal system to his will and use the Department of Justice (DOJ) to bail his MAGA faithful out of trouble. The case of Tina Peters, former County Clerk of Mesa County, Colorado, is the latest example.

Peters has been convicted to nine years in prison for tampering with the voting machines in an attempt to prove the alleged 2020 election fraud. Trump recently went on social media to call her conviction a “communist persecution” and directed the DOJ to “take all necessary action to help secure the release of this ‘hostage’ being held in a Colorado prison by the Democrats, for political reasons.”

Using Old Fears to His Advantage

Trump probably realizes, like everyone else, that the threat of communism in the United States is long gone, if it ever existed. However, by obsessing on communism, he is relying on the old fears from the Cold War that resonate with older voters. He will likely continue with the rhetoric, but it is only a matter of time before Americans realize it is just a weak attempt to hide his shortcomings.
