Ashley St. Clair smiled for the patriarchy, spoke its language, and defended its men. But when the time came, they reminded her that she’s still just a woman to them. The conservative political commentator and influencer has put herself at the mercy of the very system she once defended by claiming Elon Musk as the father of her child.
A Scandal with Elon Musk
This February, St. Clair filed a paternity suit against Elon Musk, claiming she gave birth to his child during a January 2024 trip. She’s filed a legal case against Musk, seeking full custody of their son and requesting a paternity test to confirm he’s the father.
Elon replied to her in an X post saying he’s not sure if the child is his but that he’s open to finding out.
He added, with “nonchalance” looming in his tone, that no court order is needed. “Even without knowing for sure, he’s already given Ashley $2.5 million and sends her $500,000 every year,” he said. However, Ashley denied those claims and clarified that the money was only for their child, not for her. In her latest X post, she shot back: “America needs you to grow up, you petulant man‑child.”
Public Feud and Personal Attacks
But it’s not just Musk she’s clashing with. Her once‑beloved conservative institutions and right‑wing accounts are now criticizing her for allegedly promoting “degeneracy.” Influencers like Laura Loomer have labeled her a “gold digger,” accusing her of baby‑trapping Musk. Ashley has become the latest example of how internalized misogyny is still misogyny—and playing along never protects you from becoming a target. Right‑wingers have called her a grifter and mocked her for having a child out of wedlock.
The Illusion of Conservative Empowerment
Ashley gained popularity on social media by expressing her conservative viewpoints. She even wrote a children’s book called Elephants Are Not Birds, emphasizing “born identity” over “chosen identity.” Over time, she became a familiar face in conservative media, often speaking about traditional values and politics.
She had formed close connections with influential conservatives and frequently appeared on conservative platforms like The Babylon Bee. But, instead of uplifting her, those connections have now left her open to judgment and backlash. Critics argue that Ashley tried to present herself as the archetype of a strong, ideal conservative woman—but that image didn’t hold up. Her situation is the clear epitome of the fact that in a male-dominated system, even women who support them fully can still end up being sidelined and shamed.
