After their highly publicized engagement ended in 2004, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in 2021. On Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, J Lo admitted she had “a little PTSD” before the couple’s surprise Las Vegas wedding in July 2022.
Famously dubbed Bennifer, the power couple became an item again shortly after Lopez ended her engagement to MLB star Alex Rodriguez. She had previously been married to singer Marc Antony, whom she shares 14-year-old twins with. Affleck was married to actress Jennifer Garner from 2005-2015, and the couple had three children together.
It didn’t take long after reuniting for Ben Affleck to propose again. The second time occurred in April 2022, when he presented J Lo with a dazzling green diamond ring in April 2022. The actress was publicly elated, but she did have some worries.
Jennifer Lopez revealed to Jimmy Kimmel that she kept asking herself if this second chance was “really happening” as their previous engagement had “fallen apart.” Though the powerhouse performer was confident things would work out, and the pair was deliriously happy, she called planning the wedding “stressful.”
To ease his future bride, Affleck suggested, “F#^* it, let’s just go to Vegas and get married tonight.” He assured her that when she got home from the day’s rehearsal, “I’ll have everything set up.” Ben Affleck came through on his promise as the two eloped to Sin City on July 16.
The surprise wedding was followed up with a lavish and more traditional event. On August 20, at Affleck’s 87-acre estate outside Savannah, GA, the couple celebrated their nuptials surrounded by friends and family.
Ben Affleck gave a few details of the pair’s relationship to Vogue in 2022. He called his new wife “exactly the person from 20 years ago” and got a little more personal about his feelings. “I see someone who has remained, against the odds, the thing that always made her incredible to me.”
It looks like Jennifer Lopez’s pre-wedding PTSD has given way to happily ever after for Bennifer.
