The introduction of social media video-sharing platforms has also resulted in a significant shift in Indian comedy circles. Several comedy laughs shows and events across the country have seen the rise of stand-up comedians from India over the last decade. According to YouTube trends, Indian stand-up comedians have been dominating the online platforms with killer content for quite some time now, and Rakesh Addlakha has been on the tribe for the past three years, keeping the audience rolling on the floor with his hearty dose of laughter.

Rakesh Addlakha is an engineer by profession with a rich experience of 7.5 years on corporates. Currently employed in a Big 4 IT firm in the capacity of a project manager in Accenture. His stand-up show titled ‘Hindi Medium’ has garnered people’s attention and made waves with a Hindi hilarious stand-up act embedded with his own personal experience from his school days.

He says “This YouTube video titled “Hindi Medium” is very close to my heart because it is a humorous take on my own personal life when I was a student. I went to a very basic Hindi medium school and tried to share all of my experiences in this video; I hope you can recall your school experiences after watching this video. Moreover, I have been performing at various college fests and corporate events on a regular basis for the past three years, and I have been doing stand-up comedy for the past three years.”

Rakesh comes from humble family background, as he mentioned in the video ‘Hindi Medium.’ But he lacked confidence and was always afraid of taking the stage. However, his friends pushed him and somehow persuaded him to try stand-up once, and he performed in front of a known and comfortable set of audience members, and since that day he has fallen in love with this art form and developed a passion for it by building his relatability in his acts. It has been three years since that day, and he has never looked back or left any stone unturned in keeping himself updated by giving my all to learn this. It goes without saying that you must step outside of your comfort zone to make a difference in your life. This will help you overcome your anxiety, fear of being judged, and simply go for it. Rakesh, with his bravery, took the first step, and he was driven enough to give his all.

He further shares his experience “Stand-up comedy is the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I look forward to going on stage each time. Every aspect of this art form is amazing, from failing in front of different audiences on a daily basis to making them laugh. Finally, I’m releasing my first video and doing my best work”

From the beginning of his stand-up career, Rakesh developed an inclination towards social justice and without fail has been donating 25% of his earnings to a charity to provide assistance to the poor with concrete needs and for the education of underprivileged children so that he can be a hand-holder for them on their way to receiving a better education.

From the beginning of his career as a stand-up comedian, he discovered a way to make others laugh, and over time, he realized that this was something special and as powerful as uniting people. In addition, regardless of the complexity of the situation, humour has a surface power that allows you to forget about everything around you for a brief moment.

If you are in for a good laugh, Rakesh got you covered. Head towards his YouTube channel and enjoy!
