On 3rd January 2022, the Assam State Commission for Women was reconstituted, where Nang Lucky Gogoi, a very dynamic and young social worker from the district of Sivasagar, got appointed as one of the members of the Committee.
The first meeting of the newly constituted commission took place on 28th January 2022. In this meeting, the members were given guardianship of additional districts apart from their home districts.
Along with the charge of her home district, Sivasagar, Nang Lucky Gogoi was made the guardian member of the districts of Kamrup Metro, Kamrup, Chirang and Kokrajhar. On Friday, the 4th February 2022, Nang Lucky Gogoi participated in meetings with Assam Police in two of the districts under her guardianship, viz Kamrup Metro and Kamrup.
Issues related to women and women safety were discussed. With these meetings, Nang Lucky Gogoi is the first member of the Present Committee of the Assam State Commission for Women who has taken such steps in the district(s) under their guardianship.
Next week, she will visit one more district under her guardianship, i.e. Kokrajhar. Also, she will visit two adjacent districts viz Dhubri and Bongaigaon. With this dynamism and activeness, Nang Lucky Gogoi is setting up a new benchmark for other members of the commission. The entropy level of the young member is very high, and this will push the Assam State Commission for Women to newer heights.
The first-ever Women Parliament being conducted by the Assam State Commission for Women is scheduled on 7th March 2022. This will take place at Guwahati, which comes under the administration of the district of Kamrup Metro. As the Commission has put this district under the Guardianship of Nang Lucky Gogoi, she has a mammoth task to execute. A list of Female delegates from various sectors of the society are being identified, and the invitation letter will be sent to them very soon for this conference.
The conference’s agenda is women’s empowerment and, of course, gender equality.
