Shadeen Anglin on a Mission for Christ!
Minister and author, Shadeen Anglin, is using her voice and writings to influence youth around the world. The Jamaican-born radio broadcaster gained popularity in 2021 through her dynamic preaching on Facebook and YouTube which brought much hope to families as they struggled to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking in a recent interview, Anglin said that through her teachings “many individuals, especially youth, have given their hearts to Christ and are now on a path of pursuing purpose.” Our news team was eager to learn more about the social-media sensation and so we asked her a few of the burning questions we know you would love to ask.
Q: Where are you from?
A: I was born and raised in Jamaica.
Q: Tell us a little about your background.
A: I was raised in an extended family in a remote district in St. Ann called John Reid. My father was a tall and handsome man who was skilled in the area of masonry, carpentry, plumbing and welding. Many concur that he was jack of all trades in his community and I can recall that at some point he even participated in the ministry of labor’s farm worker’s program which saw him going overseas to pick apples on a farm. My mother was a higgler and a farmer, however, when I was around four years of age she gained employment in Kingston as a housekeeper – a move that helped pave the way for my education. My parents were not married and neither did they live together but they maintained an amicable relationship until my father’s passing in 2003. I am a past student of the Shiloh Apostolic basic school in Coffee Ridge, St. Ann which I attended for a year. After leaving Shiloh I was placed at the Mount Moriah basic school where I spent about two years before my mother moved me to Kingston. There I attended Rousseau Primary and having passed my GSAT exams, I later matriculated to Camperdown High.
Q: What were you like in school?
A: I was very bold and outspoken and one who was actively involved in class and extra-curricular activities especially track and field which is my favorite sport.
Q: What is your favorite thing to do?
A: I love to dance and sing and interact with others but the thing I enjoy doing the most is sleeping. It doesn’t matter where I am or the time of day. I just love to sleep!
Q: When did you realize you were called to ministry?
A: In 2016 when certain things started to unfold in my life I got the revelation that God had a purpose for my life which I talk about in greater detail in my book ‘I’ve Seen Jesus: Details of a Divine Call to Intimacy and the Supernatural.’
Q: Which contemporary preacher inspires you the most?
A: My prayer life has been tremendously impacted by the ministry and teachings of Arch-Bishop Duncan-Williams. He has inspired me the most.
Q: What is your ultimate goal in ministry?
A: I wish to fulfil my purpose. I look forward to visiting different countries to preach the Word of God and to demonstrate His power. I wish to see young people mobilized similarly to walk in a path of purpose, bringing true Light to this dark world.
Q: How can persons connect with you?
A: They may visit my website — http://shadeenanglin.org. Persons may also listen to the sermons on my YouTube channel and Facebook page.
