Seven doctors who attended the Florida Anti-Vaccine Summit in Ocala have contracted COVID-19. Dr. John Littell organized the conference and confirmed seven doctors, including a cardiologist, fell ill after attending the event.
The event was held at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala and had staunch anti-vaccine supporters in attendance. They shared their stories and experiences on how alternative methods were a valid treatment option against administering the COVID-19 vaccine.
More than 900 people, including doctors and other medical practitioners, attended the event. Reports have shown that the attendees and organizers did not follow standard COVID-19 safety protocol. They neglected the use of face masks or maintaining social distancing.
During the event, Dr. Bruce Baros, a cardiologist, one of the doctors who contracted the virus, had said he was feeling just fine without the vaccine. “I have been on Ivermectin for 16 months, my wife and I. I have never felt healthier in my life,” Dr. Baros had said while speaking at the conference, WIO News reported.
Dr. Baros had also used the platform to criticize his father for taking the vaccine, commenting it resulted from brainwashing. He had even commented that he would like to give his father a “spanking.” Later, after contracting COVID-19, Dr. Baros deleted his anti-vaccine posts from his Facebook account.
The organizer, Dr. Littell, denied the conference playing any part in the doctors contracting the virus. “I think they had gotten it from New York or Michigan or wherever they were from. It was really the people who flew in from other places,” the Daily Beast quoted him.
“People are considering if it was a super spreader event,” said Dr. Littell, voicing the thoughts of nearly everyone who heard the news. But just as quickly, he emphatically dismissed the possibility.
Anti-vaccine protestors have long been at loggerheads with US federal agencies, including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Protection. They are against their decisions to administer COVID-19 vaccines manufactured by the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.
Some of them, even renowned doctors and medical practitioners have gone on to label Dr. Anthony Fauci, Chief Medical Advisor to the President of the United States, a fraud.
On the other hand, the FDA has warned the US population against using Ivermectin as a possible treatment option. “You are not a horse. You are not a cow. Seriously y’all, Stop it,” the FDA had tweeted in August. They shared a link to an article alongside, titled, “Why You Should Not Use Ivermectin to Treat or Prevent COVID-19.”
