Prince Harry Makes Surprise Appearance at Screening of Netflix’s ‘Heart of Invictus’

1 Mins read

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, left theatergoers in awe with an unexpected appearance at an AMC movie theater in California. The surprise took place during a screening of his newly released Netflix docuseries, “Heart of Invictus,” which chronicles the journey of a group of injured soldiers preparing for the Invictus Games held in The Netherlands last year.

GraceAnn Skidmore, one of the attendees, shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a selfie taken with Prince Harry. Skidmore, a military spouse, and USO volunteer, expressed her gratitude for the unique experience, highlighting Harry’s graciousness and dedication to supporting veterans worldwide.

Bonnie Pham, who accompanied Skidmore to the event, also shared a video capturing the royal surprise. In her caption, Pham playfully referred to Prince Harry as “my friend Harry” and embraced the unexpected turn of events.

Prince Harry himself addressed the audience through a circulated video on social media, encouraging them to watch the series and enjoy the first couple of episodes.

The USO (United Service Organizations) also joined in sharing the surprise, revealing that Prince Harry visited the screening to watch the series with service members from the Navy Wounded Warrior Program. The event was deemed a heartening community experience for wounded warriors and service members going through similar challenges.

“Heart of Invictus,” directed by Orlando von Einsiedel and produced by Joanna Natasegara, was officially released on Netflix, offering viewers an inside look into the rigorous training and preparation of Invictus Games participants. The series highlights Prince Harry’s personal journey, where he candidly discusses his own experiences returning from combat in Afghanistan and grappling with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Inspired by the Warrior Games in the United States, Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as an international sporting event aimed at empowering military veterans recovering from battlefield injuries. The docuseries serves as a platform for veterans to share their stories of resilience and strength.

The surprise appearance at the California screening accentuated Prince Harry’s continued commitment to his philanthropic endeavors and advocacy for veterans’ well-being. The event underscored the significance of the “Heart of Invictus” series, which not only sheds light on the challenges faced by veterans but also emphasizes the power of unity and community support in their recovery journey.
