In a heartbreaking turn of events, the woman who was the last known person to see actor Matthew Perry before his untimely death has been identified as Athenna Crosby, a 25-year-old model and entertainment reporter. Crosby came forward on Instagram, sharing her experience and expressing her devastation over Perry’s passing.
Crosby revealed on her Instagram Stories that she had the honour of knowing Matthew Perry personally. She emphasized her respect for Perry’s privacy and stated, “I am so devastated from his death, but felt it was in poor taste to talk about it publicly as the attention should not be on me but rather on him and his legacy.” She acknowledged the importance of preserving his memory and the impact he had on the entertainment industry.
The Venezuelan beauty further shared details about her last meeting with Perry, which took place at the Hotel Bel-Air just one day before his tragic death. She emphasized that Perry was in “extremely good spirits” and spoke enthusiastically about his upcoming projects. Crosby described him as “happy and vibrant.”
Amid the ongoing speculation surrounding Perry’s death, Crosby urged fans to refrain from making assumptions until more information is available. She paid tribute to the actor, stating, “Know that man was on a comeback and truly deserved more time on this earth. Our entertainment industry has truly lost a legend. RIP.”
Photos of Matthew Perry and Athenna Crosby during their last encounter showed them engaged in a conversation at a circular table. TMZ reported that Perry was so engrossed in their discussion that he hardly touched his meal or drink during the outing.
Perry’s tragic death occurred just 24 hours after this meeting when he was found dead in his jacuzzi by his assistant at his Los Angeles home in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood. He was 54 years old. While illegal drugs were not found on the premises, prescription drugs, including antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, and a COPD drug, were reportedly present.
Perry’s autopsy was conducted over the weekend, but the cause of his death has been listed as “deferred” until toxicology results become available. Notably, law enforcement sources have ruled out the involvement of fentanyl or meth in his passing.
The beloved actor, best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the iconic ’90s sitcom “Friends,” was honoured by his co-stars in a joint statement following his death. Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and Matt LeBlanc expressed their profound sadness and described themselves as more than just castmates; they were a family. They promised to share more thoughts and memories in due time and conveyed their condolences to Perry’s family, friends, and fans worldwide.
