Millie Bobby Brown, the 19-year-old star of the hit series Stranger Things, shared some exciting news during her appearance on Good Morning America this Thursday. The young actress is gearing up for her most significant role yet – as a bride. Brown is in the midst of planning her wedding with her fiancé, Jake Bongiovi, 21, son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi, and she couldn’t be more thrilled.
During her interview on Thursday, Brown described the wedding planning process as “really exciting.” She expressed her gratitude for this pivotal moment in her life, stating, “It’s such an amazing part of my life so far, and just being able to do it with someone makes it even better.”
While keeping the details of her upcoming wedding under wraps, Brown also opened up about her life with Jake Bongiovi. She reminisced about a viral video where her fiancé tried his hand at doing her makeup, a departure from their usual skincare discussions. “I’m so used to teaching him all things skincare, and then when I put the makeup brush in his hand, I was really hesitant,” she admitted. “But I think he did a good job.”
The hosts of Good Morning America seemed to agree with her assessment, as they surprised the actress with a custom cheese plate to celebrate her engagement, complete with their initials and the show’s logo.
“Cheese night is going to be different in my house,” Brown quipped with a laugh.
In addition to discussing her wedding plans, Brown also delved into her debut novel, “Nineteen Steps,” set during World War II. The book was inspired by her late grandmother, Ruth, who used to share stories from her childhood with Brown. “These stories felt so important to me, and I was really passionate about bringing them to life,” Brown explained. “So ‘Nineteen Steps’ happened, and I was really happy that I could put all those stories onto paper so that I could really immortalize my grandmother’s stories and her presence.”
While the novel is “loosely based” on Brown’s grandmother and “parts” of herself, it was conceived before she met her now-fiancé, Jake Bongiovi. Despite the American soldier character in the book, Brown clarified that he wasn’t inspired by Bongiovi. “I was developing ‘Nineteen Steps’ before I actually met Jake,” she added. “So the American soldier is an idea that came along far beyond Jake, but Jake is, of course, the American in my life.”
Brown and Bongiovi, whose romance sparked rumors in June 2021, received a stamp of approval from Jake’s father, Jon Bon Jovi. Speaking on Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM show Radio Andy, the rock legend shared his thoughts on the age difference between the couple (21 and 19, respectively). He emphasized that age doesn’t matter as long as you find the right partner and grow together.
“Growing together is wise,” Bon Jovi remarked. “I think that all of my kids have found people that they think they can grow together with, and we like them all. Millie is wonderful. Her whole family are great. Jake is very, very happy.”
As Millie Bobby Brown prepares for her wedding and continues her successful acting career, fans can also look forward to her literary endeavors as she pays tribute to her grandmother’s stories through her debut novel, “Nineteen Steps.”
