Kim Kardashian claims she was ‘blindsided’ by the backlash she received for her advice to women

In the latest episode of The Kardashians that premiered Thursday, October 13, Kim Kardashian opened up about the backlash she received after an interview with Variety went viral earlier this year. In the said interview back in March, the reality star told women they needed to “get your f***ing a** up and work.”

However, Kim is now claiming she was “blindsided” by the backlash her comment received. Claiming she realizes people were “triggered” by her comments, the SKIMS founder went on the record to admit she wants to do the responsible thing and understand why people reacted the way they did.

As Kim dined with her sisters Khloé and Kendall in the latest episode of The Kardashians, she discussed people’s response to her statement. She clarified she believes in people “working hard” and that most people “weren’t given the same opportunities as us.”

Khloé admitted that she could understand where Kim was coming from before adding that people would “crucify” Kim the first chance they got, no matter what she said.

Despite what the general public might perceive, Kim insisted that she has not had everything handed to her. She commented that she felt she must work even harder to “be taken seriously and for people to forget about my past.”

Kim further doubled down on her apology for her Variety interview as she clarified that her statement “wasn’t a blanket statement to all women, like as if I didn’t think women work hard or respect the work that they do, because I see it every single day.”

Earlier this year, Kim Kardashian said in an interview with Good Morning America that her statement in the Variety interview had been presented “without questions and conversation around it.”

There, she also clarified the true implication of her advice to women. “The advice that I would give is just that having a social media presence and being on a reality show does not mean overnight success,” said the reality star. She further added that one could build a successful business off of social media only if one had the hard work and commitment to back it up.
