On Wednesday night, in a public plea, Kanye West took to Instagram to urge his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, to withdraw their children from Sierra Canyon School, which he dubbed a “fake school for celebrities.” The rapper’s all-caps message on Wednesday night sparked intrigue and speculation surrounding the dynamics of their co-parenting relationship.
West’s Instagram post read, “Kim take my kids out of Sierra Canyon now it’s a fake school for celebrities that are used by ‘the system.'” He further elaborated, suggesting that his past experiences with “the system” influenced his concerns about the children’s education. West’s post alluded to his childhood, mentioning being removed from his father’s care by “the system” and expressing fears of a similar fate regarding his children.
The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2021, share four children: North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm. Since their separation, disputes over parenting decisions have been a point of contention between West and Kardashian.
West’s grievances stem from his desire for their children to attend Donda Academy, a school he established in 2022 named after his late mother. While the children currently attend Sierra Canyon School, they previously participated in extracurricular activities at Donda Academy before its closure. Despite acknowledging that Kardashian has children “80 per cent of the time,” West remains steadfast in his preference for Donda Academy.
The rapper’s public outbursts have heightened tensions between the former spouses, with Kardashian reportedly increasing security measures for their children during West’s past episodes. Although West has voiced previous discussions with Kardashian regarding their children’s education, his recent Instagram post indicates a breakdown in any progress made.
West’s impassioned stance on education has led to criticism of Sierra Canyon School, with allegations of indoctrination and claims that the institution primarily caters to celebrity children. Despite indicating a willingness to compromise, West emphasized his unwillingness to do so when it comes to his children’s education.
As the public watches the drama unfold between West and Kardashian, the fate of their children’s schooling remains uncertain. The rift between the exes underscores the complexities of co-parenting in the public eye and raises questions about the intersection of celebrity, parenting, and personal beliefs.
