British TV host Holly Willoughby has decided to leave her role on “This Morning” after a man was arrested for allegedly planning to kidnap and murder her.
The 42-year-old TV presenter made the announcement on Instagram, stating, “I’ve let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to ‘This Morning.'” She expressed her gratitude to all the people who have worked on the show over the years and thanked her colleagues for their support. She also appreciated the guests who appeared on the show and the viewers for being the best company every day.
Willoughby acknowledged that her story has many chapters left to unfold but mentioned her decision to leave the show was influenced by the need to prioritize her family’s well-being. She ended her announcement by expressing how much she would miss everyone.
While her announcement did not directly address the alleged kidnapping plot, it was revealed that a 36-year-old man from Essex, Gavin Plumb, was arrested on October 4 for allegedly planning to kidnap and murder Holly Willoughby. Plumb appeared at a hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and faced charges related to soliciting, encouraging, persuading, or proposing to a third party to murder Willoughby. He was also accused of assembling a kidnap and restraint kit to facilitate the commission of the kidnap.
The third party involved in the alleged plot was expected to arrive in the UK from the United States this week. Willoughby had been absent from “This Morning” since Thursday due to the ongoing investigation.
On the show that aired after Plumb’s arrest, her co-host Dermot O’Leary briefly addressed the situation, saying, “We are not going to talk too much about it, but Holly is on the front pages after police arrested a 36-year-old man over an alleged kidnap plot.” Co-host Alison Hammond expressed shock at the news and sent love and support to Holly and her family.
Both O’Leary and Hammond shared their love and support for Willoughby in the comments on her Instagram announcement of her departure from the show.
