Amid half of California being on fire and an unprecedented political climate, the Grammy Awards 2025 was supposed to be a night to forget it all. Instead, the event turned into a platform for political expression right before our eyes.
The Grammy Awards 2025 was a musical and glamorous nightmare for Trump and his MAGA fanboys. A giant projection of the American Constitution was displayed during the event, making the night’s intentions clear.
Trevor Noah hosted the Grammy Awards 2025 and couldn’t help but sneak in jabs at Trump and his policies between his jokes. He added some clever quips here and there about Trump’s immigration policies, tariffs, and anti-DEI initiatives. But he was only the tip of the iceberg.
Grammy Winners For Trans and Queers
When it seemed like the whole country was against the trans community, Grammy winners stepped in with their full support. Chappell Roan, Grammy 2025 winner for Best New Artist, didn’t miss her chance to talk about Trans rights, and promised she will “always stand up for them.”
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, the Grammy winners of the best duo, told the world that “Music is love,” and “Trans People Deserve Love.” Charli XCX took it further by bringing trans activists and models on stage for a sensual performance, making the Grammy Awards 2025 a bold celebration of inclusivity and expression.
Grammy Stars Push for Change
It wasn’t just about trans rights; the artists used this platform to talk about issues ranging from healthcare to immigration. Chappell Roan demanded the music industry to provide a “liveable wage and healthcare” to artists, especially the developing ones.
Shakira, four times Grammy Awards winner, talked about immigration. The Colombian artist called herself an immigrant and promised to never stop fighting for “Latinos.” Trevor Noah also took a jab at the immigration crackdown, joking that the Grammy Awards 2025 “might be his last one.”
Alicia Keys, Grammy 2025 winner for global impact, attacked Trump’s DEI policies during his acceptance speech. She called DEI “a gift” and a “game changer.” Ann Powers, a music critic, described the Grammy Awards 2025 as being made up entirely of women, LGBTQ+ people, and non-white men. She added that while DEI may be in danger in America, it is “baked into the Grammy Awards,” and removing it would leave the stage empty.
