Celebrity publicist Tree Paine, a longtime representative of Taylor Swift, has vehemently rejected recent rumours suggesting that the singer secretly married ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn before their breakup. Paine took to social media to address the claims, specifically calling out gossip Instagram account Deuxmoi for spreading what she called “fabricated lies.”
In response to an anonymous submission shared by Deuxmoi, alleging a secret “marriage” ceremony between Swift and Alwyn in 2020 or 2021, Paine expressed frustration: “Enough is enough with these fabricated lies about Taylor from Deuxmoi. There was NEVER a marriage or ceremony of ANY kind. This is an insane thing to post. It’s time for you to be held accountable for the pain and trauma you cause with posts like these.”
Deuxmoi’s owner stood by the claim, stating they would “die on this hill” and defending the submission’s authenticity. The anonymous tip suggested a ceremony occurred in the UK but was never legally formalized. Swift’s publicist demanded accountability and criticized the potential emotional impact of such unfounded rumours.
The singer’s past relationship with Alwyn made headlines again recently following the release of her song “You’re Losing Me,” believed by many fans to be about the British actor. Swift and Alwyn ended their six-year relationship in April, describing the split as not “dramatic” but rather a natural conclusion to their time together.
Responding to the controversy, Deuxmoi acknowledged Paine’s objections, stating, “Either way, I apologize to Taylor.” Swift has since briefly dated Matty Healy of the band 1975 and is currently linked with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
The situation highlights celebrities’ challenges regarding the spread of unfounded rumours, and the publicist’s strong response underscores the potential impact on their clients’ well-being.
