The new campus represents a $30 million investment and underscores Verdun’s commitment to strengthening Eastern Ontario’s economy, supporting sustainable innovation, and setting new benchmarks in Canadian window and door manufacturing.
This expansion, one of the largest of its kind in the Ottawa region, positions Verdun to respond to growing demand for high-performance, energy-efficient products while creating significant opportunities for skilled employment and local supplier partnerships.
A Regional Milestone in Growth
The Vars facility reflects Verdun’s long-standing philosophy of manufacturing locally to ensure quality, reliability, and community impact. After more than 40 years of building windows and doors in Ottawa, Verdun is doubling down on its local roots with a project that is expected to boost production capacity by nearly 50%.
“This new facility reflects our belief that a stronger industry begins with investment at home,” said Verdun leadership during the groundbreaking. “By expanding in Russell Township, we are securing not only the future of our company but also contributing to the resilience of our region’s economy.”
The plant’s modern infrastructure will streamline every stage of production, reduce turnaround times, and create a more efficient flow from raw materials to final installation.
Job Creation That Lasts
Verdun expects to generate 150–200 jobs through the Vars project. Positions will span manufacturing, logistics, engineering, administration, and facility management. The company has already launched collaborations with regional colleges and training programs to recruit local talent and provide pathways to sustainable careers.
A community job fair scheduled for late summer will allow prospective applicants to tour the facility, meet Verdun leadership, and explore opportunities for training before production ramps up.

Technology That Raises the Bar
The new Vars campus will be equipped with high-precision CNC machinery, automated fabrication systems, and real-time quality monitoring to elevate Verdun’s production of RevoCell™ windows. This proprietary technology, developed in-house, uses microcellular PVC (mPVC) with billions of microscopic air pockets to deliver superior thermal insulation and strength.
Unlike many competitors who rely on triple-pane glass to meet high efficiency standards, Verdun designed its RevoCell™ dual-pane models to qualify for ENERGY STAR® “Most Efficient” certification—the program’s top designation. With this facility, Verdun plans to expand the reach of this award-winning product line across Ontario and beyond.
“RevoCell™ redefines what homeowners can expect from their windows,” said Verdun’s Manufacturing Director. “And now, with Vars, we can deliver that performance at a greater scale and with even shorter lead times.”
A Facility Built on Sustainability
From the ground up, Verdun designed the new campus to demonstrate environmental responsibility. Plans include:
- Rooftop solar arrays to offset electricity needs
- Smart LED lighting systems with occupancy sensors
- EV charging stations for employees and delivery fleets
- Rainwater collection and recycling systems
- A zero-waste-to-landfill initiative to minimize environmental impact

The Government of Canada, through FedDev Ontario, contributed $1 million toward the project, recognizing its potential to strengthen rural industry and sustainable manufacturing.
