If you ever wonder how you can use your skills and passions to help those in need, you will want to hear about Nicholas Solomon’s incredible journey.
Nicholas Solomon, or Nick ‘the Tailor’, is co-founder of Crown and Feather Tattoo Co., a tattoo shop in Philadelphia. Nick has had a keen interest in the tattoo industry from a young age. As soon as he got his first tattoo at age 18, he knew he wanted to be an artist.
After drawing every day and getting into the right crowd of people, Nicholas had his first insight into the tattoo world at university. He landed an apprenticeship in 2007 and has recently opened his own studio. Twelve solid years of hard work and passion has certainly paid off.
Nicholas has traveled and tattooed across the world, from California to New York, and Greece to Switzerland.
His shop is not Nicholas’ only venture. Nicholas is very passionate about giving back to the community, which has derived from his love for seeing happy customers at the end of a long tattoo session. He co-founded a non-profit organization, called The New Chapters Project, which helps self-harm sufferers replace scars with beautiful tattoos. The service is free of charge and is one of the many ways Nicholas hopes to be able to give back to the community.
Nick’s work and help for the self-harm community have resulted in many clients feeling both more confident and removed from the bad times. In testimonials, self-harm sufferers share how they are comfortable in their skin once again after so many years of feeling ashamed, which is incredibly heart-warming.
This vision replicates Nicholas’s true passion for tattooing. Not only did he want it to become a business, but he has also found a beautiful way to help those in need through his work and creations.
