“Bloomberg” agency reported, quoting sources, that Europe, which is suffering from a shortage of natural gas, is asking Russia to increase its coal supplies.
“Bloomberg” pointed out that the European Union has tried in recent years to abandon coal to make electricity production more environmentally friendly. For example, Spain plans to phase out coal-fired power plants by 2027. In the first half of this year, Russian coal exports increased by 2.4 percent to 22.5 million tons. The Russian Energy Ministry believes that the volume of supplies will not change this year and will reach about 48 million tons.
