The 54-year-old music tycoon Sean “Diddy” Combs has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and providing transportation for prostitution. These accusations come after he was taken into custody at a Manhattan hotel by federal investigators from Homeland Security Investigations, just one day after the announcement was made by the Southern District of New York.
Speaking outside the federal courthouse, Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer, announced that his client would strongly contest the allegations and enter a not-guilty plea. According to Agnifilo, “He’s going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might and the full confidence of his lawyers, and I expect a long battle with a good result for Mr. Combs.”
Prosecutors Accuse Diddy of Exploitation and Abuse
The indictment reveals allegations that Diddy coerced women into participating in organized sexual activities he called “freak-offs.” Prosecutors claim he arranged for women and sex workers to travel to his location, with the alleged events involving male sex workers. It is further alleged that Diddy maintained control over the women through drug use, career threats, extortion, and physical abuse.
A key accusation in the indictment centers on a 2016 incident at a Los Angeles hotel, where Diddy was reportedly caught on video “kicking, dragging, and throwing a vase” at a woman. Prosecutors also claim he tried to intimidate a hotel staff member into staying silent.
Legal Battles and Prior Allegations
This arrest comes after Diddy was the target of several lawsuits filed in recent years, the most prominent of which included accusations of sexual abuse. Former girlfriend Cassie, a singer, filed a lawsuit against Diddy in November, claiming that he had sexually assaulted her during their ten-year romance. One day after it was filed, the lawsuit was settled.
Following Cassie’s complaint, Joi Dickerson-Neal, a different woman, claimed that Diddy had drugged and raped her in 1991 when she was a Syracuse University student. A third lady claimed the next day that she was raped in 1990 at the age of sixteen by Diddy and his friend Aaron Hall. Another woman sued Diddy in December, saying that in 2003 when she was seventeen, she was trafficked and sexually assaulted by him and two other people.
Diddy has continuously maintained his innocence while refuting all accusations. “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH,” Diddy declared in a statement in reaction to the growing charges. None of the horrible things being accused of me were done. I will battle for the truth, my family, and my name.”
Federal agents raided Diddy’s houses in Miami and Los Angeles earlier this year, which heightened the tension in the continuing court dispute.
